COUSE

Simplifying Professional Connections.

This redesign began with noticing small but persistent UX issues while using LinkedIn. From there, I set out to reimagine the interface and improve the overall experience for everyday users.

ROLE

UI/UX Designer

This project resulted in an app that’s more intuitive, visually engaging, and significantly easier for everyday users to navigate and complete key tasks.

While using LinkedIn daily, I started to notice something that felt off: the product has grown a lot, but the interface hasn’t really evolved with it. Many newer features feel like they’ve simply been stacked onto an older foundation, which creates a sense of visual heaviness and makes navigation less intuitive than it could be.

DISCOVERY

Usability issues

During the research phase, we conducted interviews with financial professionals and analyzed existing tools on the market. This gave us valuable insights into the diverse contexts and needs of different users in the financial sector.

Cluttered Homepage

The feed mixes posts, ads, suggested connections, events, and job posts, which can overwhelm new users and make important content hard to find.

Confusing Navigation

Multiple navigation bars (top vs. side menu) and buried features make it hard for users to find settings, groups, or company pages.

Poor Feedback / Confirmation

Job applications, profile editing, and messaging forms are often long, with inconsistent labeling, hidden instructions, and optional fields that confuse users.

Overwhelming Forms

Actions like sending connection requests, applying for jobs, or editing sections often lack clear success/failure messages.

Notification Overload

Users receive too many notifications (posts, likes, job alerts, connection updates) without sufficient control or prioritization.

Profile Complexity

Profiles are long and dense, making it hard for users to quickly understand someone’s skills, experience, or activity.

FEATURES

Feed

The feed mixes posts, ads, suggested connections, events, and job posts, which can overwhelm new users and make important content hard to find.

Based on this research, we mapped the journey from the first contact with the product to its adoption. This process allowed us to identify the key priorities of each user group, the challenges they face, and potential areas for workflow improvement, ensuring that we are developing a solution that truly meets their needs.

Job Application

The LinkedIn job application flow allows users to search for positions, view job details, and apply directly through the platform. While convenient, the process can be inconsistent across listings, with some requiring external sites and others offering limited resume or portfolio support.

We streamlined the LinkedIn job application flow to make it more consistent and user-friendly. By unifying the experience across listings, enhancing resume and portfolio support, and providing clearer application status tracking.

Profile

For most people, a LinkedIn profile is their digital first impression: the one chance they have to catch a recruiter’s eye. But right now, the layout is just too dense. It’s a wall of text that forces recruiters to scroll and hunt for the basics instead of seeing the candidate's value immediately.
